The Morgan module is essentially a Vox circuit, as is the Morgan amp it is modeled after. What you describe is the nature of Vox tone controls. They are quite different from many other amps and take some getting used to.

Randall had trouble with board sizes and fit issues randomly throughout the life of MTS. I don't know why things would change but they did. There may be a way to make them work but would require a tech to determine the issue first. The fault is the old modules, not the Synergy products.

The BE and 800 don't have as much gain as the SLO if that's what you are looking for. Maybe the HBE or VH4?

The SAG knob is a Steve Fryette innovation. When you play an amp loud, the power supply "sags" (the voltage drops) and creates some of the compression/bloom that you hear, especially in lower power amps. Since the SYN1 and SYN2 are preamps, there is no power supply sag happening as in an actual...

Ulf: Minor correction. Soldano is 1K8/1u. In fact 1K8/1u has the same cutoff frequency as 2K7/.68 with a tiny bit more gain.

The XLR out on the Synergy stuff does sound very good. Does not have the versatility of the Torpedo but the it's job quite admirably.

The two channels on the SLO are the same. Channel 1 is not lower gain for a clean channel. Of course, you can turn the gain knob down but it is still the high gain side of an SLO.

On the BE and HBE, the two channels ARE identical. The only thing that switches are the gain and volume knobs. They do not have the DUAL>SINGLE switch inside because it would be redundant.
