Did some more troubleshooting tonight and the two problematic modules are both xtc (one stock one modded) modules. The stock one has low volume whether in the rm100 or the SYN1, I think I just didn't notice it was so much lower on the rm100 because the master volume is not on a separate power...

I haven't tried the HBE yet, but I have the BE and my DS just arrived Saturday. I didn't get to spend a ton of time with it over the weekend, but it seems just a bit more open/loose than the BE and the bright switches open up more options for how you want the top end to sound.
