I have a RR Platinum edition. Don't know where it stands compared to the MkII.
I'm actually leaving the MTS world but will likely keep a very limited number of modules and the RR is among those. It's THAT good, on my with the Friedman modded Brahma for nailing authentic sounding Marshall tones.
Over the years I have discovered I am definitely a boost guy.
A nice clean boost in front of a mid/high gain amp gives me the tight chunk I like.
A few mods have gone enough gain to emulate that (Jaded Faith's 1959 RR for example) but I like most of my modules/amps boosted.

The 1987 is my favourite marshall module. Just lacking a little in the gain department so I often use a clean boost. And side to side, 1987 with a plain clean boost and the Nuts sound nothing alike to my ears.
