1086, great condition, little use in the studio. I use an RM20b combo for clean tones and got this out of curiosity. I have a Mesa and an Orange that I prefer for distortion.
$200, shipped continental US.
PM me if interested!
^ Thanks!
Did it change the tone of your Top Boost?
Will someone with the newer black stripe Blackface/Top Boost modules tell me what is in R1 AND R3?
I'd appreciate it!
I'm happy with the Gain control on my Top Boost (it has the lower gain non-top boost AC30 mod), but the Blackface's Gain control is pretty much useless to me, so I keep it as low as possible. Would the resistor mod help with that?
I have a Top Boost and Blackface module. Both have 470ohm resistors in R1.
I noticed that in my 1086, R1 is 150ohms... but R3 is also 150ohms, whereas on the Top Boost and Blackface R3 is 470ohms like the R1.
What is the function of R3 and would changing the resistor from 470 to 150 do...
I'm in NorCal myself, JKD.
Once upon a time, I was using a Universe 7 in a band that I was in.
That would actually be a good freakin' deal on my end.
But I just hate Floyd Rose trems so much... and I need the cash to pay the ol' credit cards.
A last bump before Ebay. The Clean module now comes with a brand new pair of black MTS mounting screws from Randall.
Legend has it that this particular module originated from Queensryche and was then owned by Vendetta Red, then another owner who sold it to me here on Grailtone and told me of...
I'm keeping my RM20B along with the Blackface, Top Boost, and 1086 modules. For hi-gain studio use, I'm just too used to real Dual Recs and 5150s. Though, if I was touring right now, this would definitely be the rig I'd take.
