Have you tried the Synergy OS module? Probably more accessible and get you in the same tone territory. I have one and love it. Lots of useable tones in that module. However, I'd like to compare the COD to the OS.

I think connecting a SYN2 to an amps FX loop will still be the same as the manual describes. In my case with 2 SYN2s, the MV on the Master unit should be the only volume working while the Slave unit MV will be bypassed.

Update to my setup: I simply removed the cable from L Main OUT of Master unit and moved it to Master unit FX Send. The volume of the Slave unit is much much better now. Thanks to Marco Riva for the tip from his setup!
