Definitely actives all the way. Death metal and the like. So these tubes... you'd expect it to alter the presence response of the knob? And what is V1? The 1st power tube slot? Or the preamp tube in the module?

See here's the thing. Is the range something to do with the pot? e.g. a linear vs exponential/logarithmic taper on the pot? Would replacing it with the other kind help?
