Yep, it's most likely an internal ground problem, actually a transistor shorting to ground when it shouldn't be. I had an old Randall combo that did this and it was an easy fix when I found it.

I know this is an old question, but since you've got your mids down to 2-3 and a V setting on the EQ, you've cut out pretty much all of your crunch. Get a basic sound without the EQ, then add some EQ'ing.

I have the same question, as an engineer, I can say that it shouldn't hurt it since it is a ss power amp, an infinite load won't hurt most ss amps, but it will damage a tube power section. That said, we should probably wait on a definitive answer from Randall or Bruce Egnater who designed the...
