Hi All I have noticed something peculiar about my RM amps. I have an RM100 head and combo and an RM50 combo. I have noticed with all three of them that as I get the volume up into the "loud" range - say 10 or 11 o'clock - that they start to emit a burning electronics kind of smell. I never bias...

Thanks for the info. I have JJ6L6 GC's in my RM100 head. I was thinking of trying the 881's in my combo to bring the wattage down a bit and shoot for a little bit earlier breakup. I know the slightly reduced wattage won't lower the volume much, but earlier breakup and a slightly more EL34ish...

Concur on a Gretchen module - anything Ty up through Dogman. Hughes and Kettner Triamp channel 1A is hands down the spankiest clean tone I've ever played. Channel 3B is a mighty nasty high gain. The triamps may have ruled the world if not plagued with some quality issues.

Hi all. I have been considering trying out some TS5881s in my RM100. I was looking at them on one of the tube vending sites and they have a note of caution about using those particular tubes in amps with plate voltages over 400 volts. Have any of you guys using the 5881's run into any issues...

Reverb tanks on RM 50 and 100? Got a RM100 head and combo and haven't seen anything like a reverb tank. Would love to add one though. What are we talking about here?
