v1 as in the first input tube on the Rm100
So long story short, i want to gain stage the whole amp to reduce noise / microphonics as much as possible.
12au7/at7 in V1 > use a boost pedal to run a hotter signal into the front of the amp ( which would theoretically lower the noise floor of V1...
Yup .. I loved it as soon as i plugged it in. ridiculous amounts of chewy mesa-ness to it.
However as the months went on i realized i don't really use it .. Doesn't suit what I'm doing these days.
200 $ shipped.
would trade for . . . some kind of Vox module. Super V ,modded Top boost.. etc...
well, good luck finding an Rm4 .. let alone 3. haha. These days you have to buy Rm4's on here and they are gone in seconds. I'd kill for one . . .
but price and availability aside, 3 Rm4's is far better than the 1250. So much versatility. You could two in stereo and mix amps for example ...
hmm I had to do some research to what 4cm was ... that's exactly what I've been wanting to do, run the delay in post, sounds 10x better for obvious reasons..
I didn't know the new PODs ( and the digitech ) have an adjustable effects send/return .. this changes things.
anyway the only...
Turns out the PODxt Live was generating the noise. It's not noticeable on the blackface cause there isn't a lot of gain ...
More or less it's convinced me to switch to a full analogue pedal setup and ditch the pod, will lower the noise floor and there wont be any A/D conversion of my guitar...
Other than there being too much verb and delay for a mix situation,
I don't know what your deal might be with this, it's literally 99% of the van halen I sound. I like this tone clip better than eddies later tones. Amazing stuff, your mic placement seems perfect as well, well balanced.
so if i...
Im not quite sure if this is normal, but what i mean by self noise .. is that without any instrument plugged in, the modules themselves generate quite a bit of audible noise. The strange thing is that it seems to be the modules, I can 'lower' the noise floor by turning the module volumes down...
Rblyn ... which KT88's did you use ? im looking into changing over to them from the stock tubes that are in my RM100
Edit. and i read this thread title again and answered my own question .. i was reading another thread where you were talking about them, lol
