My Recto & Top Boost module came with Ruby AX7's and my 1086 came with EH AX7's. I think it has something to do with the date they've been produced. My head came stock with Ruby EL34's, it's from 2003.

You can use 4 different types of tubes at the same time in this head. No prob. I currently have 1 EL34 and 3 E34L's in it and it works just fine.

I believe modding the cap to a .001 gives you the ability to push more gain in to the power amp without getting muddy. I think you should give it a try.

Gain at 12 oclock Bass full Middle a 3 oclock Treble full Level @ about 10 oclock Presence full Density at about 3 oclock Pretty much cranked it all : )

Cool. Why aren't you using the TOL100? Isn't it supposed to better than the RM100?

You can only use the first channel on the dual channel egnater modules. Unfortenately.

I meant the led on the right of the amp. The stock led on the 1086 is blue.

The XTC is definately high gain and sounds kinda like a recto but then more gain and more bass. Sounds awesome.

You can't get exactly the same sound out of it. It has an other vibe, more marshally but it can definately get meaner than the recto. The recto doesnt have more middle range but does have a middle spike when pushed all the way up, the 1086 hasnt got that.

If you got a Rectified, it's already got a .001 cap.

the Black Album tone is definately in the 1086.

Agreed, those Ruby's suck. I replaced them with 1 EH and 1 JJ ECC803s and it sounds really nice.

Mine came stock with Ruby 12ax7, my brother has electro harmonics 12ax7 in his recto.

I agree, the 1086 and Recto are voiced differently but both are very useful.
