    Egnater Rebel

Well I finally found one to try out at GC. Wow! It is a really awesome, tight little rock and blues machine! I think it is now, hands down, the best amp for the money in the rock category. Highly recommended.

What power amps do you use for your RM4

I tried a Mesa 50:50 with my M4s. Anyone wanna buy it? Cheap?? I just don't think it works well. Really sucked the life out of the midboosty modules. However, it did enhance the midscoopy ones. If I were doing the mesa sound or the vox sound all the time, I think the 50:50 would work well...

    Comparing Egnater with Randall.

Bruce mentioned that the circuit designs are the same, bu that the main difference in tone results from quality control on the capacitors. He said a tiny variation from spec on a capacitor value can have a huge impact in tone. Coming from China at a greatly reduced cost, it is unrealistic to...

    Egnater at Guitarcenter

http://www.egnateramps.com/Start.html For the curious, here are photos and descriptions at the Egnater Website. I hear they are slated to be in the stores in December. I undertand that even though the amps are not modular, the 4 channels have voicing switches on each channel to allow you to...

    RM4 problem..

Are you using a midi controller to switch channels? Is it the case that the modules all come on when you hit a switch for an effect or the like? There is a special switch for programming the RM4 to switch based on midi settings. So maybe it was pressed in by a cable or wall at some point...

    Full rig pic...plus question

I turn the master volumes on my M4s all the way up, and just use the master volume on the power amp (MOD50) as the master volume. So the individual gain and master controls for each module and the master volume on the power amp are the only volume controls that I ever adjust. But I can't turn...

Got my RM100...it sucks so bad!!!!

I guess the Recto is the copy of the Dual Rectifier circuit. I have the Egnater Erect, and I did not like it at first. But then I learned to apply a serious midscoop on that module. Treble and bass at 3 o'clock, mid at 9 o'clock. Super thick and chunky on high gain, or a sparkly, vox like...

    Rig Help

I suggest you get the Egnater Erect module. You can typically win one on ebay for about $280. It is a copy of the dual rectifier circuit, and it really chunks up when you mid scoop it. Just put the treble control at 3 o'clock, the mid control at 9 o'clock, and the bass control at 3 o'clock...

    Crazy Idea

Adding another resistor on the effects loop to lower volume is exactly the same as turning the amp master volume down. To get the best tone, you need to saturate both the preamp tubes and power amp tubes. Of course, that gets really loud. I suggest installig 6v6s or using yellow jackets to...

    Documented Modifications

Is there a listing of specification capacitor and resistor values for the modules? I think it would be nice if we could go through and QC these components on the Randall modules. It would be really useful also to have a photo or line drawing pointing out the placement of the resistors and...

    New Egnater modules for 2007!

I got the COD last Winter. :D I was told it was basically a copy of the Dumble tone. 8) I set the channel 1 for clean and channel 2 for high gain, and went to it with my SG. I was less than happy with the results. :( But recently, I realized the two channels are not the same...

    Twenty Channel Head

I keep meaning to make clips of all the modules and post them. I'll make that a project next month instead of twiddling my thumbs the week between Christmas and New Years.

    Twenty Channel Head

I guess I was wrong up above about the lower power mod 50 having 6L6s. According to the updated Egnater website, it must have been the 6V6s. All of the tube choices are listed now.

    which 2x12 cab ?????

I weighed my Egnater 2x12 cabinet. It is right at 60 lbs.

    Pickups?

I like the hotwound Fralin Humbucker (13.5K windings) in the bridge position on my mahogany body SG. I have the normal winding Fralin (around 8K) in the bridge position. For a basswood body Ibanez (Ibought an RG1570), I thought about upgrading the pickups, especially the humbuckers. But I...

    Rack Gear Help (noob)

I think you will need a midi controller if you plan to footswitch and a midi cable. Also, I would stick a Furman power conditioner in the rack. The cheap one is about $50, I think. DO NOT USE a Mesa Boogie power amp. They are made especially for use with the mesa preamp, and they have extra...

    which 2x12 cab ?????

I like the Egnater 2x12. It is oversized, so it sounds bigger, about like a 4x12. It is 12 ply birch and closed back. They were originally planning to go with ported, and I even tried out one of the ported prototypes. But they found the closed back with no porting actually sounded bigger...

    Egnater Amp Build Revisit

Hey Brent, You can already control the footswitch cut level by using a volume pedal instead of a footswitch. You just plug in from the out jack to the pedal input on the amp. It basically gives you a volume control between the first and second gain stages. If you plug into the clean jack...

    Egnater Amp Build Revisit

I was at the first amp build class, and it was a one day affair. We did not get a chance to have the instruction portion that was added as the second day of the class. Bruce told me I could sit in on one of the class's second day for free, and I took him up on the offer a couple weekends ago...

    RM4 or Egnater M4 ?

I started out with the Egnater equipment and have never owned the Randall equipment. But I think there is a huge difference in the way they sound. I think it is the components. The cheaper construction means that values of electronic components could be a little more or less than as rated...
