Lowering the volume of your amp....

I bought the Maverick FDM speaker when it first came out and it's been in my RM50 ever since. Works great!

Yes, just need a little time. Week or so.

    Ultracurve questions for.....

Ah....no, they didn't. However I still have the module, so, pictures are still possible. Basically it appears to be a graphic EQ with op-amps to supply the gain.

    How to avoid tone sucking

I just ordered this: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/WhiteLoop and this: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BlackLoop They are supposed to be hard wired loop switchers/bypass. Nothing fancy, the equivalent of a toggle switch like a Tele or LP. These are BYPASS/LOOPERS.

    Amp kits??

I think it would be a great idea. I do think an included handbook of vacuum tube theory as taught in your classes would be ideal. For some of us it's more the time away from work and the travel and hotel expense that make it difficult to attend. When I retire it's right up there on the list of...

    My problem needs your suggestions...

1- As far as I'm concerned, if it's something I want and like, and would "bring joy," then I buy it. 2- If the repair is necessary, especially to make it playable, I wouldn't think twice. One has to ask themselves, "Who owns this thing anyhow? Me or someone unknown who may want to buy it...

    Strange observation & question...

Thanks! I needed that. Reason I mentioned the reverb spring box is that you can hear the sound in the springs when a signal is going through.

Also, you can actually get sound reproduced by the output transformer. Get a "mechanic's stethoscope" or a real one, and probe around. You can also use a long screwdriver and touch the tip of the screwdriver to what you think is making the sound and put your ear on the end of the handle.

Do you have the reverb spring box connected?

RM50 1x12 OpenBack Combo or RM50HD with Closed back cab?

Personally, I only use open back cabinets at this point. Generally, closed back cabs, I my experience, only develop their full characteristic sound only when you are at least 8 to 10 feet away from them. An open back, depending on how far away from a hard reflecting surface (a wall, for...

Is a Power attenuation toggle switch stock on RM50 Combo?

Wow! That's very interesting and thanks for the reply. If you would know, for that to work, it would require separate high voltage and bias connections (i.e. wires) to the chassis as well as an AC power connection to the transformer. Is that what was done? I always thought that an RM50 with...

    RM50 Combo just blew!

Glad to hear that. FYI, I had to send my RT2/50 back to Randall when I first got it due to one channel having very low output. In that case, it was a disconnected wire. My RM50 needed a new power amp board and output transformer, which I repaired myself. Why did I go through the trouble and...

Is a Power attenuation toggle switch stock on RM50 Combo?

It would be helpful if your tech specifically describes what the connection(s) are and what he specifically did to repair the amp. Even if you do not understand right now what he may say, it will be useful in the future.

Maverick Speaker with built in power attenuation?

When I bought the Maverick speaker it had just come out so mine has the difficult to turn knob on the back. It's most difficult to turn from the loudest position counter-clockwise towards the attenuated position. I picked the Maverick since I'm more of a blues/classic rock player. Watch...
