I'm looking for a high gain module with good note articulation when picking notes on open chords and such. Does such a module exist?

I love the overall sound I get out of my Recto but the notes just don't ring out like I'd like.

Thanks in advance

I would check out the 1086. Very dynamic and quite with lots of balls. That was the module that Made me buy my Lynch Box. Really aggressive and tight. Check one out. I also like the Ultra XL.

how "high" gain are we talking about? what styles of music do you play? ...as far as the RECTO module,if you like that "type" of tone, but want better clarity, try out the GRAIL module.it's got a bit less "gain",but has better "clarity".the new KH3 module may be another option.it has ALOT of gain and is very clear.the tone of this module is smooth, but has that VHT "dryness" to it,though!

I don't need a ton of gain since I'll be using this sound for rhythm.
I plan on using this sound for songs that have an Opeth meets Rush feel.
Right now I have the gain on my Recto around noon.

I mod rectos and other modules to enhance note to note clarity and seperation. Also, check R 1,2 and 3 resistors - see what value they are. If they are 450 ohms, swapping them to 150 will give you more clarity and balls, but will cut gain a bit - since you run the gain at noon this shouldn't affect you at all.

If you really love the overall tone and want more clarity I would suggest having your Recto module modded by Pete. He modded my Brown and Plexi modules and they are both considerably more open and articulate. There may be another module that will get you closer to the tone you are chasing but if the Recto is doing it for you for the most part I would work with it before moving to something else.

If you are set on trying something else I would suggest the Ultra XL. To me it has a much more responsive set of tone controls than the Recto I believe it can get you in the ballpark of the tone you are describing.

That would be Egnater EG5. Can be had in standard dual channel version or coming soon, single channel version.

I have the Dual channel EG5 and can only play the one channel, but MAN.....it blows away any of the other Modules I have owned. Little Pricey, but it will put on a helluva show!!
