I have an RM100 and several other amps in my studio, but the one thing I am missing is the Mesa rectified sound. Which of the modules (Recto, Grail, 1086, ?) does this the best?

The Grail. It's a Recto sound without the flub :) But if the bigger bottom end is your thing, you might prefer the Treadplate.

I like my stock Grail but I do prefer to boost it to thin out the lower notes just a touch. Maybe I just don't have it turned up loud enough.

Thanks for the responses so far. Is the low end on the treadplate manageable? Could you effectively cut the lows on the treadplate and get the same tones as the Grail, or are the voicings that different in the low end?

you could mod your tread to grail spec and get the same everything.

Yup, Gigmods Recto is the best Recto mod there is, period.

The thing stands next to the Recto/Treadplate, Grail and everything else, and crushes them!

go on youtube and check it out, amazing!

i disagree !!! i believe the grail will still hold its wait against that modded module ... the grail is not supposed to be an exact recto copy !! it has it's own flavour and universe it hangs out in !!! and it's a great module ...

no modding is required !!!

The Grail is a really good module but I am still looking forward to having the Orange switch added to mine. From the clips I have heard, it sounds just like the Tverb I had sounded. Plus, in Red mode, it is the stock Grail. Best of both if you ask me.

Yup...this is the reason I keep my stock Grail alongside my Gigmods Grail....both excellent but subtly different.

Thanks for all the responses. Could somebody post a link to the gigmods or any other modded recto, I keep ending up at the modded ultra video, which is not doing it for me. I liked the treadplate sound on one video I found, but maybe that's because I am mixing stoner rock currently, and I really like that extra low end weight in the guitars that genre brings.

Recently I have tested
1) Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier
2) Rectifier Preamp/Recto2:100
3) Egnater M4 (Randall Recto) / Recto 2:100
4) Egnater M4 (Randall Grail) / Recto 2:100
5) Egnater M4 (Egnater Erect) / Recto 2:100

1 and 2 sounds very close. But... very 'hairy' on low volumes. Needs to play LOUD.
3: I liked personally a little bit better because sounds a little more juicy and thicker.
4: My favourite Randall module. Sounds like a hybrid of Recto and Marshall. A Recto with Marshall FATness and squeling harmonics.
5: Sounds closest to 1 (here is your answer) but way better on low volumes.
