So I am trying to decide which I want.. the Blackface or the Clean Module for my RM4. I thought originally I would want the blackface, I am a big fan of really warm cleans but after listening to the sound clips on the bandslink.com site I dont know I am leaning to the Clean, the blackface is almost too dirty and a bit too bassy. Any advice on this... also if I decide for a blackface I gotta wait itl they are on the market again, if I want a clean I know 3 different places to get them

I've got a Blackface and think it is the pick of the clean modules. I did try the Clean in a shop, but compared to all of the other modules, I found it a bit sterile. I think from what you're describing, the KH1 will be what you're after. I think it's modeled off a Fender Clean, but has no breakup whatsoever.
Cheers
Damian

The blackface is my favorite randall module. To me it really sounds like a fender clean. Here's a take on really sparkly and clean with a couple knob twists.

Which gain module is that after the clean?

Nice playing,really sounds good!

I think if you use a lot of effects with your clean sound, the Clean module would come in handy. Personally, I have the Blackface and it works great for my needs.

That was the Ultra XL followed briefly by the E-rect. My camera shut off right after i put it on though lol

So I decided to go with the Blackface, from the clips I have heard, talking with people, reading reviews it seems to have a little more charater to it. I had debated on the deluxe too but I think that the Blackface will do me better, though the type of music my band plays is Modern Hard Rock, my taste in clean tones is definately more vintage (I do use chorus but I tend to use a phaser more on my cleans) and I think i tend to push the mids more in my cleans than alot of guitarists playing the same type of music we do. I appreciate all of yur advice, I'll post some samples when I get the rig up and running....

P.S. I also decided on the blackface because I thought it would be a good paring with the older Mesa/Boogie Fifty/Fifty power amp I bought for my rig

just for future reference you should try a JTM45 clean! That to me is just as good as a Blackface but with some gain if needed. Of course not as much head room, but still a beautiful clean.

thanks for the suggestions, I found a Blackface on ebay for $160 so I bought it, pretty good but I am curious, any of you have any suggestions on tube replacements to keep it clean as possible?

Mine had a pair of JJ ECC82-12AU7. Never bothered to change them as they sounded pretty good.
