I've got an RM50 combo that I would like to try different power tubes in (KT88s and EL34s) and was wondering if that was possible. A local tech told me that only the RM100s are made to swap different power tubes and that the RM50 was basically designed for 6L6s.

Has anyone tried different tubes and will the amp bias high enough for KT88s? Oh, and does anyone know the B+ voltage on an RM50?

Yes,go to the Randall web site to the manuals and they have the bias settings fot it,it's addicting,enjoy...............

Here's a link to where the manual can be downloaded:

I've tried both EL34's and 6L6's in mine....currently running the 6L6's.
