Ok, turned on my RM100 and it powered up, heard the fan, tubes lit, but no sound. DOH.
Before I go any further, I do not condone opening up your amp if you don't know how to do so safely, and if you have an issue with your amp and use this in any way as a guide I'm not responsible if you zap yourself.
Anyways..
I checked the fuses, everything was ok. Pulled the chassis, found several more fuses. checked all of those. (used a fluke set to continuity). All were good. I was getting worried... then I noticed that there are several spade connectors through the amp. I looked at the back of the standby, and one was barely attached. pushed it back on, double checked the rest I could reach, put the amp back together and it works fine.
Moral of the story: If you move your amp a lot, you might want to look at the spade connectors on your amp every now and then, because they can work loose.
Question for bruce or anyone who would know: Is there a good compound that will help keep these in place like locktite but not affect the electrical properties of the wiring - ie, not make the connection intermittent?
Oh, and interesting aside - some of the boards were labeled Egnater - I'm guessing that the real difference between the RM's and the Eggys is the midi board and possibly better components, like the Carbon comp resistors I've seen on Eggy modules vs what's on the Randalls?
