Hey guys.

I've had my RM100 for a while now, it was an early production model which I purchased used.

When changing channels with the RM100 midi footswitch there's a slight delay. I say slight as it only lasts a few microseconds, but it is annoying.

Any way I could fix this?

Cheers.

There is a PIC chip on the midi board that pops right off ( remember where the little dot is on the top of the chip ). Its the bigger of the two chips and is pretty easy to find but you got to open the amp. Randall have the newer PIC chips for sale last I checked. You just snap the new chip into place but remember to get the dot in the same place. Delay fixed.

So how do we get the chip then, Looks like noone has replyed to that post for a couple weeks so what do we need to do to get the upgrade.

no delay in mine just a loud annoying click that comes loud and clear thru the pa!

How do you have it connected to the PA system? The MTS routes the signal to ground for a few miliseconds (mute) while the amp switches modules so that there isn't a click. Three part failures that will cause the mute fuction to not work is an opto IC U1B, resistor R2B, or the PIC itself U3F.

@TheHunter: Last I checked you contact Ryan Struck at Randall service to buy the PIC. He should mail it to you.

Do you have any pictures of the midi board and the exact chip I'd need to replace?
By pulling the amp apart what's the risk of ruining it? Would it be better to get a tech to do it for me?

Cheers.

You should run no risk of damage from just removing the amp from the shell. The PIC is the largest chip that is located on the F-board between two smaller chips. The F-board is literally where you plug the MIDI cables into. You can't miss it and you should see it as soon as you open the amp.
To remove the PIC you pull it out, just like a tube. Be gentle so that you do not damage any other parts if you slip. Just slowly pull the chip strait out from it's socket. Note the location of the small dot. The new PIC dot should be in the same place when installed. If not then you have it upside down.

Ah cheers man.

I always thought that 'small dot' you were referring to was that dark black spot that's always on the PIC chips.
