help with ULTRA module.

hey guys,

just wanted some tips for using the ULTRA module,
I just cant seem to get a good sound with it.
it always sounds buzzy and muffled like there is a blanket on my cab.

also it has sooo much gain, even with the gain at 12:00 it has heaps.

any example settings or tips ?

I also use a 1086 ,plexi and a recto with no problems.

the reg ULTRA module is a pretty dark module.you might want to try some brighter preamp tubes,for starters.another option would be to consider sending the module to fellow forum member,Pete Turley,and have him "mod" the module into an "XL" version.it'll give it a bit more mids,mainly upper mids,and brighter up the tone.also,it'll "cut through the mix" much better in a live band situation...hope that helps!!!

best doing a scooped mid thing. Its very distorted, but it seems musical. I like it alot. I dont find it all that middy...I use it with a 2-12 cab with celestions. Closed back. My SL+ is more middy than the Ultra. My Brown, as well.
None modded.
