I've been into prepping for a while and I'm curious if anyone else is.

I'm not a doomsday prepper or anything, I just like preserving food and keeping it on hand. Jarring has become a hobby as has dehydrating and vacuum sealing.

Aside form that I have some basic supplies. Who else is interested in prepping?

I changed the title of this thread. I realized this is just a hobby of mine.

So, what is everyone else up to?

My family used to do forest foraging to make preserves for the winter months up until the late 70s. Definitely a good skill to have.

Me, I'm into rock hounding, Fossil hunting, mushroom foraging and back country camping. All of these are pretty incompatible with making loud electric guitar noises due to the lack of electricity infrastructure. Both fun though!

I've also been practicing martial arts since early 90s.
We used to have a forum member (from LA I think) that was into JKD (Bruce Lee), that's rare these days.

I'm interested in mushroom foraging, but it terrifies me. Do you use a book or is just experience?

You sound like a busy guy!

Wish I was busier. Work takes too much time nowadays.

We use my wife's experience for mushrooms LOL, she grew up in Northern Eastern Europe where they did this all the time so she is quite knowledgeable, I'm confident with some varieties but there are so many varieties and look-alikes that it's hard.
Best advise is to find local groups and do a guided edible mushroom field course, that and a good book is a very good start. Also, when in doubt, leave the mushroom alone LOL.
But when you find choice ones, they make an amazing meal! Not to mention the time you already spent outside with fresh air.
