I need speaker recomendations...

been using some Celestions (Vintage 30s) in a 2 ada cabinets (remember the split stacks??? came out in the 1990s...)
anyway, I keep listening to my bands rehearsal tapes lately and GEEZ...the highs are to much. So the next rehearsal I turned off all my bright switches. A tad better,but not alot. I also turned down my presence control on myRT 2/50 power amp. It sort of helped but now the sound is my sound with no highs. Ithink I need some speakers that will put out the lows and mids better, and I can dial back the highs on each module.
Any suggestions? preferably cheap ones!

I would recommend some Veteran 30's, they're like the Vintage 30s without the ice picky highs!!! I bought a pair of these off ebay for $9o. There great speakers, I'm more than happy with em. This plus 10! I use Vet30's with my 6505+, Splawn, and every other amp Ive owned. They are amazing...and for 65 bucks...why not!

there is a comparison of the v30's and the vet30's on youtube. I have v30's only because i found a PAIR for 100, otherwise id be using the vet30s.

Man tone is everything.. Dont buy 45.00 Speakers. I am telling you. Go get some George Lynch Super V's . The other thing get a box built out of real wood like Russian Pine or RedWood. than get 16-14 gauge hand wired. You want a great tone buy it... Just good advise. There are reasons speakers that are good run 150-300 a piece.

I already own some wharehouse veteran 12s and they are as good, imho as celestion V30...but I think as I get wiser..I dont want all the highs that V30s or their clones put out.
I prefer something warmer.
Anybody describe the Lynch speakers for me? Or alternatives that will Rock speakers but not harsh...

+1 to RIP STUDIOS but,you could try something as simple as beam blockers or when your looking for speakers please take into consideration the voice coil dust cap IE.,If it's perforated or if its opaque.perforated dust cap=more high end,opaque dust cap=less high end.Hopefully this is not overly informative or offensive in any way. 8) :shock:

Before you buy beam blockers read this thread -- I know it's real long but the main principle is in the first 5 posts or so. It really shrinks the kill zone without destroying the tone and creating phase issues. You can get the foam squares at McMaster-Carr. Get firmness 4 and charcoal.

Very round, present low end reminiscent of the EV speakers that Zakk Wylde uses, but with an almost Fane-like quality at times, nice crunchy midrange with a British flavor, and rounded highs that don't get ice picky.

According to Guitar World : It's pretty much agreed with others on here too. They make the amp sound huge.
