Hey everyone, I'm looking for a lead module for my RM100 head. At the moment I have a 1086 as my rhythm tone and im looking for a lead sound similar to that of John Petrucci. I know im not gonna get anything heaps like it as he uses alot of different gear to get his sound but i would like a module that will get me as close as i can. Im just after that really smooth cutting tone that isnt too harsh or over distorted but still packs a punch. Any help would b appreciated.

Thanks

I would also be interested in this. Any suggestions for Petrucci's rhythm tone? It seems to be really heavy gain but clear, without a bunch of fuzz or mud.

I'd say any guitarist's tone has more to do with their guitar and pickups than the amp. I think any amp (or module) can be made to sound a certain way, especially with an active EQ like an MXR 10 band. Honestly, I have to say that, to my ears, the rhythm tone sounded fuzzy, like he was playing on his neck pu. I'd look in to what guitar and pu's Petrucci uses. I can plug my guitar into any decent amp and get it to sound close to my ideal tone, but I can't take any guitar and plug it into my favorite amp and get it to sound even halfway close to my ideal sound. Just my two cents, take it or leave it.
