Low gain tubes don't work in high gain modules???

Whenever I try to use low gain tubes like 12AT7 in my gainy modules (e.g., Grail), I don't get any sound. But with 12AX7 tubes I do. What's up with that?

Thats odd. I do that all the time with my high gainers with no issues.

There is no logical explanation for this except your tube is bad. Two things to try if you don't have a tube tester:

1: Try the tube in V2 of the module and turn the volume on the module all the way up while strumming a chord. Slowly turn the Master on the amp up all the way.

2: Try this tube in V1 on the amp.

If both scenarios fail to provide any sound, your tube is bad.
