MIDI Question

So the back of the RM100 has a 7 pin midi connection, and one of my rack gear midi units has 5 pin midi.

I want to connect the RM100 midi IN to the Midi OUT on my effects rack unit allowing me to make channel changes and parameter changes through the effects units pedal board.

Is this possible, have any of you tried this.

Rocktron makes a conversion cable 5 pin to 7 pin and one end has a power apapter on it (dont think id need it). Could i use this or would the RM100 not recieve any changes. ????

The Rack Unit is an old school Digitech GSP21 Legend ( I Know I know old huh) But hey it works great for me.

I'll make an educated guess and say that the 7-pin is for providing phantom power to a (Randall) footswitch. As far as sending/receiving MIDI, 5-pin connection is all you need.
