Oh man I am so stoked but at the same time, the 2 month + wait shall DESTROY me hahaha. The worst part is I JUST got my g-system in but wont be able to even use it until I get the egnater but oh well, it's gonna be worth the wait, right? :D Anyways, just cuz I know you guys want to know, I'm getting the bassman and MHG modules since I play prog. rock/metal in the vein of Dream Theater/Symphony X and so on so I needed something with crisp, clear distortion that's heavy as well as that AMAZING clean the bassman module has. The only question I have is, does anyone know where I can buy a hard case for a MOD50 head or where I can find a good custom hard case maker that isn't very expensive? That'd be amazing to have cuz I don't know how comfortable I'd be carrying a $2000 piece of gear around without some protection!! Thanks all and I cant WAIT! :)

MHG is the bomb for high-gain. The Bassman is a great module, but Im wondering if a Twin isnt more what you may be looking for. Bassman is really the precursor to the first Marshalls (actually Mike Soldano even ended up with the SLO after starting with a Bassman circuit!). Im assuming since you mentioned Dream Theater that you are looking for CLEAN cleans. Petrucci is meticulous about getting any and all the slightest grit off his clean tone. I think the Twin is the cleanest of the clean Egnater modules, but someone may correct me since I have not actually played an Eggy Bassman (though I want one bad!)

I've got the Bassman and I think you may be right Matt. It's punchy and gets quite hairy if you want it to be. The B'man A channel can be clean but it is not at all the pristine type of clean. Channel B, the heavier side, gets some very cool saturated overdrive, think early Joe Walsh, James Gang.

Twin = Super clean
Deluxe = Very clean with slight drive

I would say if you want to split the difference, go with the Deluxe. It is a GREAT clean tone, it's clean with lots of character.

Oh and, congrats on your order, the MOD50 is a truly unbelievable & fantastic amp! You will love it.

What about a TD (Twin/Deluxe) module for the best of both worlds? Super clean cleans and Bluesy overdrive. I talked to Frank yesterday and he said the boards are in so the TDs will start tickling out this week or next. Cant wait for mine!

Right on InFlames235!

Congrats. Depending where you are, you may be able to find a case building company near you, where you can check out their work. Here, in San Diego, there is a place called Left Coast that does really good work at a decent price. They've built me a nice big rack case and another case to store a big foot control system. Very good stuff. When my two MOD50s come in next week (fingers crossed), I'm heading over there!

Yea, I think you guys are actually right about going with the twin on my order...As far as the new twin/deluxe module goes, does that mean the first channel will be extremely clean and the other channel will have a slight drive for blues and stuff like that since it's the deluxe? :)

Exactly, the clean is bell-like pristine and still full of WHACK and tonal character. The Delux could be used for blues, but it is gain only a bit higher than the Twin side. When I was demo'ing them at NAMM, I couldn't find a guitar that didn't like them. They sounded killer with single coil or humbucker. I was also impressed how tight and focused the tone was without any compression and across the entire dynamic range. I ordered one for all these reasons!

Okay then I will definitely go with the new twin/deluxe module heh I hope it doesnt take any longer to complete the head for that module cuz it's new and all...two months is gonna be painful enough as it is :(

Edit: So i'm guessing this also means that there is only one setting per twin/deluxe, right? Such as, there isn't two settings for one sound anymore since the twin is one channel and the deluxe is the other?

This worries me John! Does this mean that you cant get SRV-level gain without a boost?

Thanks,
Matt

I think you can get it up there with single coils, but it doesn't have the grit of say the VOX module Chan B if I recall correctly. I'll post some clips when I get mine.

I usually run my Vx Channel B with gain at Noon. Can the TD's DLX get that kind of grit? Otherwise, I may have to call the shop with great haste and have them juice it up a bit!

I think it will be just fine then. I thought you were talking far more gain!

Hey guys!!! I just ordered it two seconds ago and got a new quote of 4 - 6 weeks so that makes me STOKED!!!! I actually changed up the modules at the last second and went with the new twin/deluxe module and the E-Rect!!! I'm totally excited and these next few weeks are gonna go by way too slow!

Congrats! Mine came in just under 4 weeks when I ordered.

Just out of curiosity... what made you change your mind from MHG to E-Rect?

I love my MHG but I spend many sleepless nights wondering about E-Rect (the MODULE you SICK-Os!)

Oh...the cruelty continues. You guys really know how to kick a man when he's down.

If its any consolation, you're a hell of a better player than I am and the music that will eventually come out of your MOD 50 will definitely sound better than mine probably ever will!
