The G2's preamp is a little different. I haven't played either in awhile, but I do remember thinking that the G2 was better. The gain was the same but the EQ seemed to work at different freq's. Also, the G2 has a boost on the clean channel and a voicing button for the mids that changes the the Middle knob works at.
