Hi guys,

I'm about to order my Randall RM4 from the U.S and I have some questions before I hit the "order" button. :)

1. Do you know a "good" online store that ships to Sweden?

2. If I am looking for Disturbed tone I know that the 1086 will get me there or close enough. I wonder if you have some suggestions on other modules if I say tones like: Candlemass, Godsmack, Zakk Wylde (with Ozzy or BLS) and a good clean as well. I'd like to order the modules at the same time. Has only decided to order the 1086 so until friday you are free to help me out... so suggestions on 1 clean and 2 "others".

Anyway, I appreciate any help! Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Jonas (www.myspace.com/deciphers)

I am looking at some mods myself. I found this site that has a bunch of them, though not all, recorded. A bit on the roomy side of the mic, but you can get a general idea on how some of them sound

Welcome Antipolitik!

With the 1086 you have decided on, I would add an SL+, an Ultra of some kind, and the Blackface.

The SL+ will get you in the neighborhood of Zakk. It's too bad you can't get this module modded by Pete (okstrat here in the forums). He modded mine and it went from 'pretty good' stock to 'pretty f'n sweet' with his modifications.

I suggested an Ultra (lead/XL/orig) just because I like them so much. It mainly depends on what you might want to use it for (leads or rythm). They are made for one thing and one thing only : face melting distortion!

The Blackface is my favorite for cleans. I think a lot of people on here would agree that it is the best for cleans. There are those that prefer the Clean module or even a re-tubed, gain at 9 o'clock, mid-gain module.

Follow audiholic's link to here some good examples of what the modules sound like. Also, check out Youtube. There are a handfull of videos with people playing these modules.

Good luck!

Thomas

Thanks guys!

I've decided to go with the following modules: 1086, SL+, Ultra lead and Blackface!
Should cover the styles I like! ;) Really appreciate the help!

Jonas

Some like the UltraXL more than the Ultra..since it's a little more cutting...in that set-up, I'd swap the KH-2 for a KH-3 though...which I think you already considered doing.

The KH-2 is good (and I will have another someday) but the KH-3 is  :D

welcome antipolitik,
I own an RM4 and 6 modules.....I want to tell you not to worry ..I dont think there are any bad modules....I think they all sound good, and each has a specific palette of sounds it can make. Just like a tube amp...they are instruments all by themselves...very playable..and each player can get different sounds out of each module.
Mods are popular around here..but, for me anyway, the modules sound so good stock...I am not in a hurry to go changing anything.
Enjoy! And I look forward to any first impression you care to post here, at the forum.
And no I dont work for Randall...Im just a guy that likes good tones.
