I am wondering what module to go for with heavy palm muting / chording / clarity / realism. I already have a recto module and like it but wonder what else is out there as I am a newer user of Randall. Thanks

Bummer. The link does not work. Do you have a preference between the Lynch Box and an RM100? What differences have you noticed? I love the Mr. Scary module so I would think Lynch's take on a mesa would be great as well. I wonder if it has enough gain though? I dont need a ton of gain as I run the Mr. Scary at2 or 3 o clock. Thanks

Link doesn't work because I can't type. Try it now. This is a one taker. I just played for sound not for any accuracy. And I've got an appt with the hand surgeon on Wednesday. So.... don't rate it. The others by the band, go ahead. but not this one.

FOR MOST GAIN GO WITH ULTRA Xl. MY SUGESTION IS TO HAVE CAPS REPLACED AND GO WITH A CRYROVACTED 12ax7"s IT MAKES IT BALLS TO THE WALL. ALSO WITH THE Rm100 IF YOU WANT THE MOST OUT OF YOUR HEAD NEED TO UPGRADE TO MERCURY TRANS/ GET CHOKE DONE / BIGGER POWER TRANNY. THAN YOU WILL HEAR AN AMAZING DIFFRENCE

Not worried about gain as much as clarity, girth and tonal quality. Gain is good but I can always use another module with it to get more gain as I am running 2 RM 100 heads at the moment with a lynch box on the way. I guess I just dove head first into Randall land lol. I may be selling 1 of the RM100 amps after evaluating the modules differences. I am only doing this to quickly A/B the modules. I plan on keeping the Lynch box and 1 RM100. I will also be selling a few modules after this experiment is done lol. My friends calls me the mad scientist, go figure.

THAT IS GOT ALL YOU ARE LOOKING FOR...

TOP FOUR MODULES
=============
1. ULTRA XL
2. MR SCARY
3. GRAIL
4. RECTO
5. PLEXI
6.1086

NOW TO MAKE THESE MODULES GREAT NEED TO GET MODIFIED.
ALSO NEED TO CHECK OUT SOME OF THE EGNATOR MODULES

as much as clarity, girth and tonal quality

..Demise you need to get a Pete Turley mod to an Ultra or Recto ..IMO

I cannot recommend them enough ..
MY Scary he did has a sick amount of articulation .

It sounds like there is less gain than is actually there ,just because it is crystal clear
When chording you can hear every single note .

Is the recto the same board as the treadplate / 1086 / grail? Are there just tweaks to them making them different? If I sent the recto to be modded could it be made to sound like a grail or treadplate? I am not sure about the xl module. It has alot of gain but reminds me of a Peavey and I dont care for that much. Thanks

Same thing. The Treadplate is newer Version Better Caps. What ever you want to get moded. Will sound alot better. Get the Ultra Xl.... I am telling you you wont be Disapointed at all.....

I am selling one of mine new in box for 159.00 Shipped...

+1 on the UltraXL and the mods. If you like the lead channel of an old block-letter 5150, the XL gets pretty close in tone and feel. But stock it can be sorta fizzy and lacks some clarity and low end tightness; a good mod will fix that right up. Best high-gain lead module of the bunch IMO. I haven't played any of the mesa-based modules in awhile, but being more of a marshall guy, I use the SL+ for scooped palm-muting metal rhythm stuff; it's not bad stock but I'll be getting mine modded for more gain and clarity soon.

I actually had a block letter 5150 for 10 years and it was my main amp. I guess I am looking for something different nowadays but may try it or trade an extra plexi or clean module I have for one?
