I have had my RM50 for about a few weeks now. I think it is an early one. I have found that when I get it cranked up to a decent level it is a lot noisier than either my Peters dual channel, or my Mako Mak4/Peavey classic 50/50 rig.

It is loud enough to cause feedback problems. I have tried different tubes in all positions, and it happens with both modules. Anyone have any suggestions?? I am going to have a look at the amp out of the head shell tomorrow night I am just looking for some places to check. I did disconnect the reverb tank to eliminate that.

Where is your master set? Up high will bring more noise than lower with the module level up higher.

Also, a 5751 in the PI keeps things a bit calmer for me as well.

I read about a 5751 in the PI, so I put one in there. I have been running the master at about 1/2 and the module volume at just above 1/2 on the chuppa, and just over 1/4 on the XTC. That module is super loud. At first i thought I might have a problem in one of the slots, but the Diablo I had was the same volume as the Chuppa, that module is just super loud.

So would I be better off cranking the chuppa's output level, and setting the xtc to a level that they are balanced, and adjust the master for the overall level??

This weekend I decided to pull the chassis out, clean all the tube sockets, and the connectors for the preamp modules. I noticed that the bias pot was bent a bit, so I removed the black plastic gromet, and straightened it out. The center pin was broken!!!! I bent the pin back to where it is making contact, and soldered it back together...Problem solved, sounds much better, and no feedback!!!!!!! Also the bias is much easier to set. It used to jump around a bit, but now is perfectly stable.
