So how does my RM22 know...?

What speaker cab I'm running? Owners manual says external speaker output can go to 4, 8 or 16 ohms. How is this done without an ohm switch?

My speaker out says 8-16Ohms. There is no detection, it's just a "safe mismatch".

It sounds a bit different on 8 vs 16 Ohms, but no big deal. Still in my opinion a second tap off the power transformer for a true match to 8 or 16 would be nice.

Weird. I've never heard of a safe mismatch set-up. :?: Always thought this was potentially bad for the amp & cab.

If the OT can handle it.

For example for my Triamp MkII this was part of the official manual, that you can mismatch it to design the tone to some extend (esp. in halfpower mode).

So what's the "real" impedance on the RM22, 8 or 16 ohms?
