So I've had my Rectified module for awhile now. Now, I've never actually played through a Dual Rec, but the sound isn't exactly what I was expecting. It sounds REALLY good, but missing a bit of crunch, and has bit more compression than I'm used to.

When I think of rectifier tones I think of Kings X "Dogman" album, or Jerry Cantrell's "Spiderbite" off the Degradation Trip album. Both very heavy, mean, kinda hairy, and in your face.

So I've decided to look into modding the Rectified to a Grail. Would this get me close or closer to the sound I'm looking for? Any other modding advice/tips?

Thanks in advance! :p

IMHO the rectified NAILS the 2ch recto tone. I have played both 3ch's and 2 ch's and this NAILS the original recto tone. Perhaps you are not looking for recto tone?

Grail was based on Lynch's dual Rec which was one of the first 300 made. For some people its their go to module and can be dialed to get a tone somewhat close to a 5150 as well. If you want a mod that sounds exactly like a dual rec then you should look into salvation's deadplate 1.

Here is the link to his clips http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=909142

Thanks for the replies! I'm thinking of changing the preamp tubes to see if that might also be the case. I guess when I think of a recto tone, I think of HEAVY crunch (ala' Godsmack, Disturbed) Although these arent the bands I'm trying to get a sound like, I guess it's just an example of what I think of when thinking of the recto tone.

I'm totally going to try the Grail mod though. Thanks for the input :)

I have an older voodoo modded 2 channel rectifier. I just had Trace mod my recto module to be a duplicate of my amp and it is eerily close. He even put a global dial in it. Highly recommended.

For more recto tones, listen to the album "Awake" by Dream Theater, and "Dead Heart in a Dead World" by Nevermore. Also, "The Odyssey", by Symphony X.

Get it modded to Grail specs, have Pete do his low end mod on it and you're there.

Nice to have but not required = Bass (c3) switch and/or mid voicing switch

Seriously, go to youtube right NOW and hear Pete's (gigmods) recto..
I have never geard a better Recto sounds from anyone, anywhere.
It should come with a Tatoo..."Anytime,baby!"
