Ultra modded clips and pics - checkerboard content!

First the pics, then the clips! Note that for some reason the camera washed out the black on the checkerboard, in person the lettering is all the same size, not with the white larger than the black.

How about some clips? Before I begin, a few things... something went out of phase on the ultraXL mod clip. You can hear it slip in and out... not sure what's going on, I need to record it again. The parts that sound good - that's what it sounds like. I think I may have overdriven a mic, but not sure.

Here's a stock setting on the checkerboard Ultra... .0022 bass cap, clarity modded:

Checkerboard ultra, .0022 bass cap, clarity mod, but switched to XL. Same settings as 'stock' clip, just the XL switch flipped:

Andy's modded Ultra with the 'shift' switch. It's like the XL but a little more extreme. His is also clarity modded. Didn't have time to do a clip of his in 'stock' position, it's like mine above.

You can see my settings on the big randall pic... and if you listen closely, you can hear me strum my guitar and I'm about 10 feet away facing away from the amp. It was recorded fairly low.

Wow! Excellent work! That mid shifted Ultra sounds fantastic. I gots to get me one o' dem! :twisted:

You really are getting a thick mid grind and great punch .
its tight ,and percussive .
I may be crazy but i think it is getting closer to the VHT stuff .I think the VHT is a lil more low end present but **** the mid punch is close to the VHT/Soldano/Splawn type of thing .

Thanks man. I hear kinda a VHT/Soldano/5150 thing going on... it has more high end... actually more than you'd use, which is scary. To my ears, the MTS amps are a little dark across the board.

Did you every mod the XTC and make clips .
I be curious to hear you clarity mod and mid shift in that as i think it is a little less compressedmore organic .that with a few mods might do the VHT thing . pretty **** close

Pete, I was wondering what did you find the stock value to be on the ultra XL? I'm affraid that if i change it to a .001 i will lose too much bass....almost as if it was an in-between value.

I am curious too!! The XTC is one of my favorite of the Randall mods. All of your face plates are AWESOME!!! What made you think of doing them?
