This is something worth considering:

nah, I'm not talking about OT/choke upgrades....I've done that in the past on other amps....and IMHO, not worth it (no offense to Trace or others). To me you get much better changes in tone by replacing speakers/pickups/tubes. Besides, I think the OT and choke in the RM100 is more than sufficient. Even a tone-seeker/tweaker like Lynch signed off on it.

I'm talking about actually tweaking the RM100....here is a what Dave Friedman did to Steve Steven's old RM100:

Changed first gain stage as all modules must use the first gain stage that is built inside the Randall. Its less bassy, and helps when hitting the gain modules. It is switchable between modded and stock. Dave also reworked the power section so the presence control was more like a Marshall, and the depth control could be more usable. I can crank it up pretty good, and not have the amp all muddy or woofy sounding. I really think these mods should be standard on the amp, as it definitely sound better than they did stock. Then again, not everyone will agree.

With regard to the first pre stage. The cathode bypass is 22uF, which results in a frequency response down to ~7Hz. I'd try changing that to something like 1uF or less.

1uf => 159Hz
0.68uF => 234Hz
0.47uF => 339Hz

i just may try this tonight.
