I have a 4X12 cab (randall warhead cab) loaded with vintage 30s and i also have an rm50 combo and im wondering if 1 vintage 30 will handle all that the rm50 puts out? I like the sound of the stock speaker but after hearing the rm50 run through the cab i want one in the combo.

Pick up a Hellatone 60.

We start with a stock great sounding classic 60 watt Celestion Vintage 30. We convert it into a Hellatone by aging it slightly and by exercising the suspension for 15 hours so when you get it, it has a warmer tone on the very first note. These two aging processes warm up the low end and smooth out the midrange slightly. The Hellatone model 60 really projects and is great for all kinds of music, especially Rock and Metal! Large Heavy 50 oz magnet 60 watts 8 ohm or 16 ohm. For specs, go to celestion.com, and click on 'classic' speakers, vintage 30 speaker.

You'll be ok as long as you don't crank the amp. Anything over about 5 or 6 and you risk damaging the speaker. It depends on a lot of variables, from how high you run your channel volume to how you pick the strings.

I personally wouldn't crank it up too much. A 50 watt tube amp when the power amp is cranked can put out a lot more than 50 watts, and with an open back cabinet there is no damping on the rear of the speaker to limit it's forward travel. My personal preferance is to go with 1.5x amp power as a minimum with my speakers.

That said as long as you are not cranking it up with the bass, and resonance up pretty high you should be OK. If you want your RM50 combo to sound massive and much louder pick up an Eminence Wizard, killer loud speaker, and 75 watts power handling. I have one in my 212 cab with a GB128.
