What a Vendetta sounds like... (MP3's enclosed)

Thought folks might like to hear this... when I bought my Rocktron Vendetta, I couldn't find any clips of what one sounded like (heck, I could hardly find anybody who'd owned one who could comment on the tone). So thought this might be helpful for others who have wondered what the Vendetta sounds like... these are 3 work-in-progress tracks by my new band, sans vocals.

Setup used was:
various guitars -> Vendetta head -> Avatar 2x12 cab w/ V30's -> close mic'd with Sennheiser e609 (near center of cone) + Kel Audio HM1 condenser (near edge of cone) -> Presonus Digimax LT -> post-FX (tremolo, delay) added in Sonar, panned to the left

(The other guitar player used a Peavey JSX through the same setup--cab, mics, etc--and either an American Std Strat or Ibanez JPM100, which was panned to the right in Sonar)

Been listening to them on car stereos, boom boxes, portable MP3 players, etc the past few days, so I've found a few things I want to change in the mixes, but overall, I think the tunes are 95% there.

Good job Brent. The song writing is very good. I love the drum sounds in particular. Can I ask about that? Real drummer ... drum machine and if so what type?

Thanks! This is a new lineup (Necessary Distraction), which includes a drummer & guitarist I've been playing with for about 8 years now plus the addition of my wife on vocals. Right now we're essentially a "studio band"--we don't have a keyboardist/bassist, so I covered quite a few instruments on these 3 tracks.

The drum comment made me smile because over 5+ years of recording projects, we've always struggled the most with getting good drum tones, and this is certainly the best we've had so far. The drum kit is an old Pearl Export series; it's mic'd up with Shure PG mics on bass/toms, Audix i5 on snare, Sennheiser MD421 on hi-hat, and Studio Projects C4s as overheads; runs through a Focusrite Octopre LE into Sonar, where a few effects have been added (Lexicon Pantheon reverb, Izotope compressor).

Overall, the gear isn't overly fancy or expensive, just took a long time to figure out how to use right... the challenge is that I used to buy & sell recording gear at about the same rate I buy & sell guitars/amps, so it's rare I have any recording gear around long enough to use it well. Based on how well this recording project's turned out so far, I'm swearing off making any changes to studio gear for the next 5 years!
