One should be for the gain and the other for the tone...I think. But which one is which? Also anyone have a problem with the Blackface mod's icepick highs? If so what did you do?

v1 is technically in the amp head I think and acts as an input buffer - it's the tube closest to the input jack. I have a NOS RCA Blackplate 12ax7 in here, very clean, sweet sounding, low noise and robust tube
both v2 and v3 (on the module) are part of the gain stack I believe. v2 will have most effect on the sound you here and it's the tube on the left looking from the front of the module.
Replace it with a darker tube.....and/or turn off the 'Bright' switch.
I play with humbuckers so I prolly don't get too much icepick, I like the Bright switch on and play cleans with neck pickup.

yep,i have the BLACKFACE and i cant seem to curb the ice picky highs.i have JJ tubes in my module,have the BRIGHT switch turned off and my treble is set at 12 o'clock...still pretty darn bright on top! dont know if there's a darker tube than JJ's.love the module's tone,otherwise.

Of course...entirely possible the high frequency response of my ears is totally shot
Only tube I've had that was darker is an RFT ECC83 but they tend to dirty up clean channel in my experience.

I changed the tubes in my Blackface to Groove Tubes 5751Ms, because I wanted to cut the gain some.

Also to me cut it cut the highs as well.
