I'm thinking of changing all my caps to .001. I know for sure that the Recto is getting one because I have the old muddy .47 in it and it is junk. I have a 1086 and an Ultra Xl also and was just thinking of putting the .001's in both of them also. Anyone replace the caps in these to the .001's? The Recto is getting done on Saturday and I was just going to do the others then as well. Also, is there anyway to do a quick gain mod to the Recto and the 1086. Neither of them have enough gain. The Ultra XL has all the gain I need but the other two sound a 100 times better being boosted with an overdrive pedal. The 1086 I'm not all that fond of, its way to thin and way to weak in the gain department. The Recto I cant tell on the gain since anything past noon just turns to mud until I fix the cap.

While the .001 sound great in a recto, If you want authentic rectifer tone, the .001 sucks a little too much low end out of the tone. Its tightens it good but makes it boxy sounding compared to a real recto. I have a .0015 in mine and may go up to .0022.

I am going to try the .001 in the Recto for sure. The thing is completely unusable with the gain past noon. That .47 stock cap is junk with my drop tuning and the 58 low E string. The other 2 I think I am keeping the same. The Ultra XL is really good. The 1086 I may get rid of because it is fizzy, thin, and not even close to enough gain.

With a drop tuning you may want to try a .0005uf. That's stock on the Grail.

ultra xl has a 0015 in it stock and a 1086 has an 001 stock. recto has lots of unusable gain and you'll nevr get rid of that and its a flubber . you need to change the resistors on it and get the 0005 cap for it. 1086 is weak on gain stock big time. to me 01's sound best in the signatures. but many will disagree so you might as well try it. good luck

My UXL Has a .0022 and you can't MAKE It muddy :D

so does mine and it won't muddy either. i used to have one with a 33 and it wouldn't muddy either unless it had no treble and full on bass but who would do that

Some of my friends

My Ultra XL has the .22 in it and is perfect in the gain and tightness department. Does anyone know what changes have been made from the original Recto to the Treaplate other than the cap is now .22? Seriously, my recto is terrible and is completely useless to me right now. I need the gain and tightness of the Ultra XL and the mid structure of the Recto. Is there any module that have that? Like I said before I also have the 1086 and it sucks almost as much as the Recto. The gain is atleast tight but still is a step short. Tonally it is weak and fizzy.
