I am looking to make my Rig more portable, I am now using the RM4 in a rack with a Boss Gt-Pro, Furman PL PLus and a Shure Wireless...and another rack that holds my Mesa/Boogie Fifty/Fifty power amp. I am looking to go from my 4x12 cabs to maybe 2 2x12 cabs I am fairly happy with my Peavey Sheffield and Celection V 30 speakers so can anyone suggest where I can get some reasonably priced 2x12 empty cabs? Truth be told, I'd love to go with the ADA splitstack 2x12's the celestion G12s-50 speakers (which are out of production) in those are awesome!

I have an ADA splitstack cab, the Randall MTS 2x12 chews it up and spits it out. Seriously.

i have played the CAA 2x12 side by side with the randall 2x12...and the Randall blows it away. it's alot thicker, fatter, and ballsier.

when using two 2x12's...it makes for a killer stack and gets those speakers where you can hear them.

MTS 2X12 :D Great cab, hands down, blew away my old Marshall 4X12 tonewise. Portable too, I can throw it in the trunk of my car and go to a gig. The Mic Eliminator is a godsend, awesome for recording, just can't beat it for this feature.
I'm actually checking out the Gen Benz Flex 2X12 as a 2nd cab to go with this, heard good things about them too.

What Marshall cab were you using and what speakers did it have?
I am using a 1960A 4x12 with V30's. It sounds good to me but I don't have anything else to compare it to.

Also, what speakers come stock in the MTS 2x12?

Your selection of speakers. I just got the Bluesbreaker clone (Vintage) with G12H30s for about $315. I think the cab is about $219 alone. Discounted stuff in the scratch and dent room is a bonus.

I used to run a 1960 RI Marshall, which i think had G12-75, didn't like them at all. Also had a JCM 800 cab, which wasn't bad, but lacking sometimes in the bass punch.
IMO the V30s in the MTS cabs really work well with the Randall modules, especially in bringing out the mids.

while we're talking about speakers anyone using eminence these days? I bought a wizard for a 1x12 recording cab a while ago and never really was diggin on the tone, I also have some celestion V30's I have to say I am not a fan of. I have to say that all in all I am addicted to the sound of my Peavey Sheffields that come in my 5150 cab, or the Celestion G12s-50's that came loaded in 4x12 Crate (of all brands) in the early-mid 90's and in the ADA Splitstack 2x12 cabs.

The Sheffields (1290's if I am not mistaken) to me are tighter in the bottom but still warm, with a nice bite thats not shrill at all... and the G12s-50's are very warm in the mids little fatter and looser on the bottom but not as much bite... I'd love to find replacements for these that are the same Ohms and run them together in cabs...what a tone!

The George Lynch sig. cab comes loaded with Eminence speakers I believe...and that cab sounds great IMO:

I'm using a Mesa rectifier cab, 2 x 12 - Vintage 30's, it sound great! You can find these on Ebay all the time for reasonable. Also a note on the Avatar speakers, they sell them new on Ebay alot of times for cheaper that the web site.

I dont have the experience others have..but
I own a 2x12 Randall (black tolex, doesnt have a mic elim)..and I have good ears.
Its good..but at high volumes I think I am pushing the speakers to hard. I auditioned REALLY loud (not by choice) last week and the speakers kind of barked, sort of heaved at top levels. I think they are Celestion v 30s........probably nice in a 4x12 but making them push hard...not my fave thing.
But I have heard much worse...I am pretty critical of gear.
