Salvation is in final testing phase....though to be honest, all the high gain modules start to sound the same after a while....or I end up dialing 'em that way...but the feel is a little different

Interesting, to say the least. I wonder how it compares to the Engl amps I had before. What amp is it based on?

Anthony told me it's based on the Savage, but I've also heard from others it's based off several EnGL amps.
Can't wait to hear it!

Yes thats right, ?cause several ENGL amps have same base....;)
Personally for me sounds like ENGL as I know.....Savage, Fireball, E530
And I really love this older design of faceplate. Much more than newer version with so many fonts....

It would be nice if that module had a mid shift and different gain levels...could probably cop a Blackmore tone and an other ENGL tone in one go...forgive me if that's what 'based on the Savage' means.

WOW! Any chance I could get one of those with a switch for the Blackmore Crunch and lead, and then up to a Savage lead, plus bright (no noise gate, it would be used in the crunch setting), and the regular contour option?

- Contour is engl version of mid shift
- lo/hi gain you see, I don?t like engl?s lower gain settings so much, but this is personal taste for everybody
- ritchie lead tone, do you mean Blackmore?s Night?
but seriously, this is mission impossible, don?t exist moder which can do it, and if somebody say that he can, he is liar. You must buy ritchie?s hand, then you can start to thinking about his lead tone :)

for everybody - copy of rhythm sound is very hard, but easier than lead. In soloing is most important part of sound chain - guitarist. Much more than everything else. And If somebody think, that you can have for example stevie?s fingers, personality and experiences only with some orange drops........ no other comment :)
and again, again and again - Why Vai sounds everytime like Vai??? (with Bogner, VHT, Carvin etc....)

I'm so glad to see someone admit this.

Nit-pickers are really funny to me.

Lots of them go through several speakers/cabinets, amps/guitars...now mods.

I had a friend (excellent bass player) that came to the club I was playing one night. (he didn't know it was me on stage that night)
Before he entered, he told me he heard my guitar.
He said, "I knew it was you by your tone. You have the best tone I've ever heard around here. I always know when it's you".
I was using a Fender 'Evil' Twin amp (stock) with a '97 LP Standard. (I think I had an SD-1 pickup in the bridge)
Good tone is a relative thing. Setting your controls right, matching the room...there are several factors that effect your overall sound.

What I've found is that a good guitar player can make crappy equipment sound...not so crappy.
A good player can make good gear sound great.

In a nutshell, many of these nit-pickers should concentrate on their playing more and be happy with the stuff they have. The best equipment in the world doesn't make a hack player sound good.

My first rig was:
A Lotus LP special copy (neck warped in 6 months) $100
A Marlboro 10w, 8" combo (no distortion or effects) $125
An MXR distortion box $39
Yet people told me it sounded good.
Just my 2?

Dan !
Can you hear me ?
Time to come home !!!

for these guys that still believe that for example Engl RB and Savage are different amps....
sometimes you can read official website ;)
http://www.engl-amps.com/e650.html

explanation: The amp is based on the ENGL Savage 120, but the Blackmore is more of a simplified version. Thus, it's about a grand less. It certainly does what I want though and it's somewhat affordable, relatively speaking of course.
source: http://www.gearpedia.net/index.php?topic=3601.0;topicseen
and same answer had my friend straight from ENGL company about E530 and we got same tone from Fireball, without tweaking, simply it is IN.
Believe or not, it is your fight.....

So final words - ANGEL is base on basic ENGL higain tone (which is base for most of engl higain amps only coloured with different features etc)
