In the past i've liked a brighter sound, but i'm afraid with the blackface it may not have quite enough gain that i'm looking for. And I don't dig the differen't voicing of the DLX, not a country fan in the least. I want a nice bluesy bite. The only sound clips of the tweed I can find are on this site and they leave a lot to be heard. I'm guessing the bright switch isn't turned on with these clips but who knows. Haha sorry for the jumbled mess!

The Tweed is good, similar to the Deluxe. But it isn't bright at all. I play mine with the treble maxed out and bright on and it still need a little more top end.

The blackface is more for clean sounds; maybe with a set of hot humbuckers and the gain cranked you could get a bit of distortion. For brightness you might try a Top Boost, but the tubes will probably need to be changed for cleaner tubes. Also, i'm liking the plexi quite a bit for low distortion sounds, and it is much brighter than I expected it to be.

Blackface + boost (Tubescreamer). You've gotta add some gain to the boost. The Tweed, I think, is stellar. It can be a slightly darker version of the Blackface TS combo.
The Plexi will probably get you close to what you want.

Just the clarify something about the Deluxe, while it?s true that the Fender Deluxe is popular for country, the Deluxe module should not be pegged as a ?country? only module by any means. The first three modules that I ever had were the blackface, tweed and sl+. I got the tweed in hopes of using it for blues, cleans and classic rock tones. I thought it was ?ok? but when I later acquired a dlx module, I sold the tweed and blkface because I actually like the deluxe better for SRV blues tones more than the tweed and I like the clean tone as well. IMO, the deluxe is a very versatile module, has that great vintage warm fendery vibe that?s kick *** for blues and classic rock tones, with or without a pedal in front of it (I sometimes use a BB pedal). For cleans, it?s great also, but not so much if you?re looking for a bright module. The deluxe is one of my fav. modules!
