capacitor question

in theory would 2 0.001 caps = 1 0.0022 cap? i was wondering if i could make a 22 out of two 01's by soldering them together, it seems to work at the moment on an old pos recto but i'm afraid to try it on something better. any one?

Yes, two capacitors connected in parallel add up:

C(total) = C1 + C2
