I have a 1x12 cab to take with me today. Have the option of either
setup. Which do you prefer?

What type of music are you playing? What amp? If MTS, what modules? Give me something to work with. :D

I assume rock/metal as thi is MTs- therefore closed everytime

old school lo gain blues may be open (?) IDK, never found an application for any of material

Using my rm20 and a super v speaker. Making clips of hopefully all my mods in my signature minus the slo. Gonna play rock and a bit heavy. Clean tones too.

More sound in the room with partially opened back! My JCM800 combo sounds huge that way.

I have super V's in my 4 x 12. Great speakers.

^interesting
Are you talking about rock tones? That may work well...my "rock" seems to be tight detuned metal

Thanks for the advise. Session got delayed. I usually use the cab open in the house. Its a Seismic and I love the fact they send you both backs to make your choice at any time. All it takes is a screw driver and a few minutes for the swap.

for rock/metal closed 4x12 V30 :)
If only 1x12 then M/B Thiele cab or something similar.
1x12 is choice for dimensions, not for sound (in rock/metal)

Mike the back of the amp. It's 180 degrees out of phase with the front. (Ever
mike a grand piano? Put a mike under it to pick up the soundboard?)
Then, you can "re-amp" and play with other effects with the "back tone" also.
Add a room mike, etc.

Open probably will be only cool for clean sounds but for the rest I also vote closed

Always wanted to do that. I did do some recording one night jamming with some friends one night. The next day I begged to hear it but my buddy said it completely suck arse and wouldnt let me.
Thanks everyone. I might as well use both when I do them just to see.
