I did my 'VH' faceplate by printing on photo paper with a high resolution ink jet printer, then shot several coats of fixative and then clearcoat lacquer over that. It still looks 'ok' but not as nice as when I did it back in '06.
what about using lamination/contact paper over top of the inkjet photo paper instead of lacquer? could wrap it completely around to the rear of the faceplate & poke holes through for the pot posts, that way it couldn't peel off. Trick would be getting non glossy-clear lamination paper, maybe something like this?
