Please note the faceplate and knobs are *silver* and not gold/plexi. LED is blue, camera made it flare like that... if only it would do that in real life.
I replaced caps in the signal path with better ones, changed out some of the other parts too. Here's how it is different tone-wise than a stock one:
Still has the 'loose' characteristic of the JTM module, but a little tighter. More high end, clearer, less cross talk between notes when you play a chord. Still has a cool sag when you play low notes with a lot of drive. Also added a three way boost switch - can go from no boost to full range to highs only. This is different than the bass switch as this actually adds gain instead of changing lows. The amount of boost isn't night and day, but it does change up the tone and gain structure a bit and will be more apparent the louder the module is. Still cleans up great with the volume control on your guitar even when the module is dimed.
$199 firm plus $10 shipping. That's what a new one stock would cost - why not get something a little more exclusive?
BTW, if you are the type of guy who likes only two basic tones - crystal clean and meltdown - avoid this module (and the stock JTM) like the plague. You won't like either of them. If however you like classic rock and tones that get a little ragged and aren't super tight, you'll like it. It's a lot more Neil Young than it is Metallica for sure. Think of plexi module gain with a much looser 'amp about to blow up' tone.
