As my Mash-All and MK22 are out for upgrades, I've been jammin' the heavy stuff with my Mamba and QuickMod. Damn these two sound good together! Hard to beat for my 80's/90's metal ***!

To my mind, the Mamba is the least versatile module I've ever owned. It does only one thing well. Thunderous metal riffs. But it does that one thing REALLY, REALLY WELL!!!!! Not a Marshall or Recto tone, but something in between.

Recto tone with huge clear bottom end, then there's the kill switch for boost, it's delicious.

Mamba SE is great for added versatility. The diff switch makes it's midrange get all JVM-like and remain mean. That being said, I don't ever really touch it because the standard Mamba sound is awesome. I don't want to change anything. When people say recto and Mamba together I get it.

But they often leave out the part that the Mamba merely ***** out rectos after eating them.

The toggles are useful but, it's the kind of mod that you find a setting and end up coming back to it enough that you just keep it. It actually can be pretty versatile and I can make mine sound similar to several other mods. However, no other mod sounds like a Mamba.

was a very cool tone, almost hi fi quality...very full tube tone with that solid state, focused OD......thought it was versatile if you toy with it enough....just preferred something a little less refined sounding

Haven't played a Quickmod yet but I'm guessing they would make an interesting pair.

Side Note: The Mamba is the only known mod to actually require the tube cage. There is so much *** kicking going on inside that it would burn your eyes to even look. OK, not entirely true. You are most welcome to burn your eyes out. At least, here in Michigan. Although, here you have to wear a seatbelt in your car but can ride a motorcycle without a helmet.

With all due respect Matt, I have a JF Custom Recto, recently named the Wrecked-Ohhhh, that can hang with my Mamba SE. Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of the Mamba, but my Wrecked-Ohhhh might just be playing Rocky to Apollo Mamba
