Howdy,
Anyone rocking this combo? Was curious your thoughts vs. just a regular Mod 50 setup.

Thanks
Case

I prefer this combo over the Egnater MOD50 and MOD100!
Never preferred the poweramp section of Egnater.
Even the Rocktron Velocity Valce 19" poweramp (by Egnater) has (ofcourse) the Egnater voicing. Voicing is thick, less punchy bass and less high end = vintage. Nothing wrong with that.
VHT 2:50:2 is more gritty, more articulation, more breath, more modern.

Thanks guys.
I have a 2/50/2 incoming to use with my Axe, but considered trying to trade my Mod 50 for a M4 to build a "super rack" :)

Is there a Randall equivalent mod preamp I should consider?

Thanks
Case

The Randall equivalent is the RM4, although of course no Randall equivalent that supports dual-channel modules exists. There are plenty of satisfied RM4 owners on the board, though I think everyone would agree that the M4s are going to win out in terms of build quality and reliability.

In my opinion, whatever that might be worth, the "best" tone I get out of my modded modules is M4 (RM4) & my VHT 2/90/2. I just hate lugging it around. If I were to record, that's what I'd use. Otherwise love the MOD100 and I am anticipating the return of my RM100 from being modded by Bruuuuuuce.

I think you'll be very happy with the VHT, such clean power and TONS of headroom. If that's what you're looking for, you'll be very happy.

thanks Drew.

Is that EG5 treating you well?

Found an M4 not too far down the road from me, so we're going to swap to change things up a bit for the both of us, it sounds like :)

Look for an update this weekend. Looking forward to locking myself away for a couple afternoons of Axe-VHT-Eggy goodness.

I've been considering doing the same; trade my MOD50 for an M4 or 2/90/2.
The rack might be heavy but I think it would be more convenient than the rack on top of the MOD50 I have now. If I was playing out again it would drive me crazy hooking up the loops and the midi the way it is now (MOD50 + RM4).
