Hey all.

In my RM100, I currently have:

Ultra XL
Ultra XL
Clean

I use one XL for rhythm, and the second slightly different for leads.

My only complaint is that the XL doesn't seem to have ENOUGH crunch. It's NEARLY there, but not quite.

Are there any other modules anyone could advise me to try?

I'm going to try an EQ before the input (to boost the mids) before I try a change, but some advice would be great!

Try putting a Tung Sol 12AX7 in the tube slot on the left as you look at it from the top. I put one in a module the other day and noticed quite a bit more gain and crispness. If you have $350, by an Egnater single channel EG5. The baddest MoFo on the planet from what I hear.

I just got on the MTS band wagon and so far it's GOOD!

I picked up the RM4 on Ebay with these Mods......

Blackface - Love it, just what I needed. The JMP1 clean tone just was not cutting it.

Moderon - I like it but.... maybe I need more time with it.

XTC - I see that a lot of you like this mod. It sound a little harsh in the upper mid frequencies to me?

So what mod should I try, looking for something mid to high gain but still has that extra creamy sound.

My main axe is a Fender Strat with a SD Pearly Gates at the bridge and DiMarzo HS3 mid and neck.

Lookin' to demote the JMP1 to back-up

Thank you

I'm listening to your myspace to see what would work. First thing Inoticed is , "Wow, lots of hits in 1 day."
The tunes are cool; that lead guitar work fantastic- what amp did you use in the studio? That is solid speed metal.

EG5 is menacing, it would work on those crunching axe sounds you seek. As for Randall modules, I would think that you would have to look at the mesa part of the fence; Treadplate, Grail, KH3? I only have the Tread it has plenty of chainsaw stock.

I'd give the treadplate a chance, EvileOL, since that's the Mesa Boogie model; it has a lot of mids and lower mids with a good amount of gain, but probably not as much gain as the ultras.
