My very own Plexi starting dieing on me.
At last rehearsal...it cut out.
Now at the gig last night it made really weird low end sounds that were blasts of low end.....like every 4 minutes are so.....and then....at other times nothing came out of that module. Nothing at all.
Now I am doing the trouble shooting , but with symptoms like this I would appreciatte any advice.
Its very welcome....2 heads are better than one.
I never heard of a tube that went like this.

PS: this is a stock black label Plexi.

I had almost the very same thing happen to me when I received my 1086. It just completely died out on me. Changed the preamp tubes, and now it's as good as new. Might be worth a shot if you haven't changed them out yet.

I just explored the problem..so far I think its a preamp tube..now ...next question..what a tube for the Plexi module..I know thers 2..but assuming I love a REAL plexi tone....like John Sykes in early WhiteSnake (slide it in etc)..
what should I buy????

If it behaves anything like the Brahma.... Tung Sol 12AX7 in V1, Chinese Gen 8 or 9 in V2.
**** good advice here. People tend to say both Tung Sols and Shuguangs are THE tubes for the Marshall sound, and luckily you can use both in the modules :)

...It was the tube!!!
I opened up the module to replace the tube and noticed the original tube was barely in its socket!! I grabbed it, put all the way into the socket and no problem since!!
Sharee this info...might help alot of people.

I hope this "near death experience" has taught you something.

Next time you'll be ready!

Have a plot picked out, get an idea of how much a casket is gonna cost you, don't forget flowers and remember to send invitations for the wake and the viewing.
Funerals are sad, but there's no excuse for not being prepared.

I tell ya...
sometimes when i doubt my gear choices..like when a module seems to be dieing on me..I do a little work and find out its nothing and Im back with the best tone Ive ever known.
The MTS stuff just keeps me satisfied.
