Well I am officially in the MTS world, I picked up a new-old stock RM50C from a little mom and pop music store. Other than a couple mars on the tolex its flawless and came with the clean and ultra modules. It has an odd grey grill cloth though. I have only seen black and p[alomino up until now, is this from the earliest runs and is there anything different about it that I may need to know? The modules are also blackfaced and not the chrome that i have seen.

I'm not sure. Some modules received updates, but don't know if all did.

The Recto became the Rectified & then the Treadplate. I believe tweaks were made along the way.

Welcome aboard, I also have a combo and mine is the older version. The presence and density board is a older version and you might want to check yours. You can check it and send for a new one if you want. Also, depending on what modules your using you might like a different speaker. I found the stock speaker works well for high gain modules, but really not great for low to mid gain stuff. As always YRMV. Lots of info here from years of posts. I so far have not updated the presence board, but have changed the speaker.

cool, so the combo with the grey grill is the older version when compared to the black and palomino grills? Its a darn nice design i think, even so I may have already talked myself into going the RM4 route...

Not necessarily, I don't know how old the amp is. That is the color that my cloth is but I don't know if that scheme is any older than the newer ones. You would have to find out by your serial number. You are probably right on the age, but the modules are the latest from Randall.

well i totally dig this MTS platform I have found the RM50 to be a really well designed and thought out amplifier. i like it well enough that it is already up for sale lol! I ran across an new RM4 that came with three modules so now i have a couple cleans, a tweed, an ultra, and a 1086. hmm which mod to try first...i am thinking a JF Texas Special, JF Snakebite, SM Angel, and a JF Trilogy might be a good combo for the 6L6GC power section of my Peavey XXX!

That's what ADD will get ya lol. I decided I liked the dual mono idea a whole week after I bought an ISP prorackg mono version. Oops. I have that for sale now too.
