So I have the black face module and I almost have to say I hate it! It breaks up way too early and the tone to me isnt very open sounding... I want a clean thats more open, less boomy and stays clean. I thought about the KH clean but I think it'll still have that "closed in" sound I am trying to get away from. Does anyone think the "Vox" module may work?

The top boost has little to no clean headroom, but if you're looking at the Lynch signature module, the description says it is very acoustic sounding due to a lack of midrange, so that will probably help to keep it clean. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than myself can give their experience with it. I take it you're using pretty hot humbuckers?

hate the blackface? wow... maybe the Randall clean is your ticket, may as well try it since the used market price is pretty cheap

I have a Randall clean that I am trying out this week, perhaps if you decide on it, we can swap plus some cash or something, either way, I hope you find what you are looking for.

I recently re-acquired my old Clean module from Pete. I swapped it to him last year for some work on other modules and he toyed around with it. Sort of along the lines of a silverface Fender clean. Overall, I really love this module now and it is an awesome clean tone. Pete did a great job on it and it is something worth looking into if you either have a Clean and dislike it or can pick one up cheap and are willing to put a few bucks into it. I'd take it over the KH-1 anyday.

I have a deluxe, DLX I think? It's got a black clean faceplate, but I swear, it's a Deluxe. I had the clean and it SUCKED.

I am completely happy with the DLX. I can get it at the same level as the other high gain modules and switch to it without any distortion really, and I'm using an Ibanez Xiphos 7 with de-activators. However, I usually switch to the middle toggle (both pickups) when playing clean.

Try the jj6v6's. I use a blackface and what a difference from the 6l6. Took away the boomy bass. Although I don't care for them as much for the plexi. Still very little breakup with the blackface until really pushed with volume. Have you tried different tubes?

Just got the randall clean, and while it may not be super insteresting, I find it just great for clean tones, which heck, thats what its supposed to do. its nice.
